Always Play To Win
It is a common problem for people not to be doing everything that they can in the situations that they are presented with and, as such, they miss out on seizing the various opportunities presented to them in their life. Therefore, the root cause of their losses is themselves.
Not doing everything within your power to win is most likely due to the same reason that applies to the other 95% of people who are not successful, which is fear of failure. It is a vicious circle; you are not yet successful, so you think that you are a failure, and because you consider yourself a failure, you do not want to put yourself in positions where you can fail again.
Fear, which is worth considering as ‘False Evidence Appearing Real’, steals opportunities from you before you have even had a chance to try your best at it, and not losing or missing out on something because you did not do anything, is much, much worse than losing or missing out on something that you tried your best with.
In the moment that you submit to your fear of failure, your fortune has been 100% sealed. You have no chance of winning because you never even gave yourself the option of playing.
The thing is, by getting involved, you nearly always have a chance of winning, even if it is a small one. You might be the underdog, but how many times have you seen the underdog beat the favorite before? Life is unpredictable, and the underdogs regularly have their days.
The often cited phrase “Aim for the moon, at least if you miss you will be among the stars” is more than just a cliche. Keep it mind always, because there is a lot of truth in it.
By chasing the big opportunities that arise, you will be pushing yourself to be the best that you can possibly can be, and by doing that you will be in a better position in failing than you would in if you had done nothing at all. You might not always get exactly what you were aiming for, but the second and third prizes are often worthwhile.
Your self-confidence will improve by following this approach and so will the confidence that others have you in, as they will see you as being someone with a positive, can-do attitude, which is the type of attitude that others like to be around, and like to believe in.
